I made this piece in love with the black jewelry worn by Da Vinci's ladies.
The Stone is called black pearl oyster, which is the mother shell of the black pearl. Also known as mother-of-pearl, a black pearl.
If you ask me if the back side is rough, it's an elaborate construction in which the same inner part is neatly pasted together. Both sides are smooth.
