Reinterpreted the traditional colours of Kōribata (氷旗), this common sight in Japan has now been transported to Malaysia, featuring one the nation's favourite shaved ice dessert: CENDOL.
Combining the richness of red bean (or anko), gula melaka with green jelly strands, CENDOL might comes in different version across Southeast Asia, but it has always been recognizable through its colors. So by exchanging the red, white and blue from KŌRI to Burgundy Light Brown and Green, KŌRI X CENDOL hence has took on a new identity, signifying a cultural crossover that unites both nations love for icy and cooling sweets.
With this sustainable yet stylish canvas tote bag, it will definitely create viral interests and you wouldn't mind to be seen with! Not to mention, Cendol has also been declared a Malaysian heritage food by the Malaysian Department of National Heritage.
Each piece of KŌRI is handmade (or punch needled!) by XTW studio owner, using Acrylic Yarn Red, White and Blue on Monk's Cloth. It is then fixed on a 12-13 oz Canvas Tote bag (meaning it's 20% thicker than normal canvas tote bag) and signed.
