Knee blanket designed by Katsuji Wakisaka - Blankets & Throws - Wool Brown

Product Description

An original 'undyed plus' lap blanket. Size: 100 x 150 cm, 100% wool. Made in Japan using undyed wool, the origin of Andydo Plus, and incorporating Katsuji Wakisaka's design. Feel the soft touch of high-quality wool, which has been carefully and time-consumingly created by skilled craftsmen. A tote bag with each design is also included, making it a perfect winter gift for birthdays and other occasions. Only the "Hana Tsunagi" is also available in single size (150 x 200 cm). ● About Izumiotsu, the production area Izumiotsu is the number one blanket production area in Japan, but in recent years, cheap blankets made in China have appeared, and Japan's domestic production has exceeded the amount of imports. In such a situation, we asked them to make it because we wanted to preserve as much of the technology of high-quality Japanese blankets as possible. Woven blankets made in Izumiotsu City are completed by skilled craftsmen with their experienced skills in all processes, from making the design mold required for jacquard weaving, called monshi, to weaving, washing, raising, and finishing. When you pick it up, you can feel the quality of the handmade work, which was carefully made one by one, from the fluffy fabric and soft texture. ● About the design We asked Katsuji Wakisaka, who also designs rugs for Undyed+, to design it. Wakisaka, who worked as a designer at Marimekko, has a sophisticated Scandinavian feel, but his designs are also honest and warm, and soothing to the soul. Two designs, "Mosaic Town" and "Flower Connection", were created. Katsuji Wakisaka Biography Born in Kyoto in 1944. Moved to Finland in 1968. After working for Marimekko, Jack Lenor Larsen in New York, and Wacoal Interior Fabrics, he has been creating works in a wide range of expressions, including pottery, paintings, fabrics, and picture books since 1996. He is currently focusing on work for SOU-SOU. ● About the material Undyed wool is used. Undyed+ is a brand born from the fascination with the quality of undyed wool. The soft colors nurtured by nature have a beauty that cannot be produced artificially, and a certain calming charm. This jacquard blanket was also produced without dyeing, which is the origin of undyed+. Wool blankets are not only excellent at retaining heat, but they are also excellent at releasing moisture. Even in the cold winter, people sweat a lot, and wool blankets have the effect of dissipating that moisture, so they are warm but not stuffy. They are also soft to the touch, and the texture of the high-quality wool is so comfortable you'll want to touch them forever. In addition, because they are carefully woven with jacquard weaving rather than printing, they can be used for a long time without fading or fading.
