Ear-Ear Hook Sapele Natural Wood Wall Hook for Leashes, Hats, and Bags - Hangers & Hooks - Wood White

Product Description

Hold the Ear-Ear Hook up to your Shiba Inu's head, and the two tips align perfectly. The design of this hook is inspired by a dog's ear. The two pointed sides are perfectly suited for hanging items. Interestingly, the designer has noticed that families with cats see cat ears, while those with dogs see dog ears. : ) https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/IMG_1538-1024x683.jpg That is how it got its name. ■ It all starts with a leash Dogs need a leash for walks. But once you're back home, where does that leash go? The Ear-Ear Hook was created to solve this very problem: a natural wood wall hook designed for the entryway. Its shape mimics a dog's ear, using the pointed tips as hooks. The designer notes the challenge was balancing the aesthetic: the ear needed to look pointed, while the warmth and grain of the natural wood had to be beautifully preserved. https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/IMG_1691-1024x683.jpg It was originally designed specifically for that leash. ■ After eleven cuts, the journey begins Each Ear-Ear Hook is carved from a solid block of wood. It takes eleven precise cuts to create eleven planes that define the shape of an ear. Every angle must be calculated beforehand, the blade set precisely, and each cut made in a single pass. Yet, after the initial shape emerges, the most meticulous work begins. With eleven faces and four edges per face—some overlapping—these edges are very delicate. Machines cannot reach these tight curves, nor can sanders, leaving every edge to be hand-sanded with fine sandpaper one by one. After rounding the edges, the sanding continues. The wood grain direction varies, making some areas particularly difficult to sand, but it must be perfected: "If the ear hook feels even slightly rough, when someone touches it, they'll think: 'Hmm, this doesn't feel like an ear should.' If that happens, it's not a success." https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/Fluffy-hanger_4-1024x683.jpg Eleven faces, each edge hand-sanded to perfection. ■ Six wood types, from light to dark All six wood types are priced the same; please select using the tool above. The six images below were taken from the same angle to show the variations in wood color. https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-202-1024x1024.jpg Ash https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-200-1024x1024.jpg Beech https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-196-1024x1024.jpg Cherry https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-208-1024x1024.jpg Oak https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-198-1024x1024.jpg Sapele https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-206-1024x1024.jpg Walnut The colors from light to dark are approximately: Ash, Beech, Cherry, Oak, Sapele, Walnut. You may choose one, or mix a few different ones to create a beautiful contrast. If you'd like to combine different types of wood but aren't sure about the pairing, feel free to ask the designer. https://9housedesign.com/zh/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/20221206-flu-ear-124-1024x960.jpg This is how it looks when several types of wood are arranged together. ■ The box is made for that one second of opening At first, the Ear-Ear Hooks were packed in cardboard boxes and wrapped in bubble wrap. After using this method a few times, the designer felt it was simply unsightly. These hooks are handcrafted pieces of work, and having them wrapped in bubble wrap and tucked into a plain box felt like a missed opportunity. So, the designer upgraded the packaging. The boxes are matched to the quantity purchased—one, two, or four pieces each have their own box size. Inside, high-quality paper pulp fibers fill the space, making the ear hook look like it is resting on an incredibly comfortable bed. This packaging allows you to give the item as a gift to friends and family with confidence. ■ Stick it or screw it, depending on what you're hanging The Ear-Ear Hook supports two mounting methods, and each package includes the accessories for both; there is no need to purchase anything extra. By adhesive: Two strips of 3M double-sided tape are included. Attach them to the back of the hook and stick it to the wall—no drilling required. This is suitable for hanging lighter items over a long period, such as hats, leashes, or towels. By screw: A full set of hardware is included, containing two metal brackets (four plates total), four short screws, four long screws, and four wall anchors. There are four small holes on the back of the hook to secure the brackets using the short screws; the other half of the brackets are secured to the wall with the long screws and anchors, then the two halves are slotted together. Use this method for heavier items like bags or backpacks. Additionally, there are two large holes on the back, allowing you to mount it directly to the wall with screws without using the brackets. You can use a single ear or hang two together. It is 15 cm wide and 7.5 cm high. The photos may make it look slightly larger than reality, so please check with a ruler before placing your order. ■ Installation takes a little time Both installation methods include the necessary accessories, but your first time may require a little research. One customer wrote, "Although it took some time to figure out the assembly, it is very cute." If you have trouble, please contact the designer directly; some customers have specifically noted that the designer’s advice on the non-drilling installation method was very helpful. ■ Does the adhesive really stick? It is fine for lighter items like hats, leashes, and towels. For bags, please use the screw method. One customer who only used the double-sided tape reported that "it is also quite stable." ■ What kind of paint is used on the surface? Water-based wood paint is used; we do not use solvent-based (oil-based) paints. The difference lies in the diluent medium: water-based paints are thinned with water, while solvent-based paints rely on organic solvents. We use the former for all our products. During the painting process, the studio remains free of the pungent odor associated with solvent paints—a difference we smell every day. Water-based paint is more labor-intensive. Oil-based paints have a self-leveling property where the second coat sometimes doesn't require sanding; water-based paints do not—the water cannot dissolve the layer of paint beneath it, and without sanding, there is no adhesion. The sequence is: 80 → 150 → <1st coat> → 240 → <2nd coat> → 240 → <3rd coat> → 600 → <4th coat>. Four coats of paint with three sanding sessions in between. These steps can often be skipped with oil-based paints—we chose the more labor-intensive method. Because of the nature of water-based paint, it is not resistant to alcohol and should not be soaked in water, which is key to its maintenance. ■ Ear-Ear Hook six wood types (▶ You are currently on this page) All six wood types are priced the same.
