Waterproofing advice for first use The waterproof function of TC cotton tents and expanded yarn tents is achieved by the expanded yarn absorbing water and swelling to block the pinholes. To achieve the best waterproof effect, it is recommended to spray water on the seams when using it for the first time to help the swelling yarn absorb water and swell quickly. 2. Protection tips for prolonged rainfall If the weather forecast indicates that rainfall will continue for a long time, it is recommended to use an additional waterproof cover to double-layer the tent. Inflatable tents may leak or experience a drop in air pressure at high altitudes or in environments with large temperature differences. This is mainly related to the following factors: 1. The impact of temperature difference on air pressure (main reason) - Thermal expansion and contraction: During the day, the air in the tent expands due to the sunlight. At night, when the temperature in the mountains drops sharply, the air contracts, causing a significant drop in air pressure (even if there is no leakage, it may feel "soft"). - For example: If the tent is inflated at 20°C during the day and drops to 0°C at night, the theoretical air pressure will drop by about 7% (according to the ideal gas law, P∝T), but the actual drop may be greater because the elasticity of the material also changes with temperature. - Solution: - Inflate in the evening: Inflate the air to a value slightly higher than the recommended value (e.g. 8-9 psi) before sunset to allow room for contraction at night. - Choose insulation: Dark or double-layered tents can slow down internal temperature fluctuations. 2. Effect of altitude - External air pressure decreases: For every 1,000-meter increase in altitude, the atmospheric pressure decreases by approximately 11.5%. If a tent is inflated at low altitude and then brought to the mountains, the relatively high pressure inside may cause: - Material expansion: Air columns put more tension on seams or seams, accelerating small leaks. - Valve stress: High pressure differential may cause the valve to lose its tightness. - Solution: - Re-adjust the air pressure in the high mountain environment: After reaching the camp, some gas is released to reduce the pressure difference between inside and outside. - Use a tent designed for high altitudes: some professional tents have reinforced seam and air valve designs. 3.
