The greens of celadon are elegant and understated, with shades as varied as clouds and mist, or the luster of jade. Legend has it that Emperor Huizong of Song described this color as: "After the rain, amid clouds breaking through the sky, such is the color to be achieved." ................... For over 30 years, Fuchang Kiln has quietly focused on firing celadon and monochrome glazes. The resulting celadon glazes are as warm and lustrous as jade, as clear as ice crystals, and as smooth as congealed fat. They exude a subtle, understated sheen that is neither ostentatious nor flashy, embodying a refined elegance. Paired with classic forms, tactile wooden handles, and delicate glazing techniques, we aim to integrate the elegant aesthetics of celadon, infused with scholarly sentiment, into everyday tableware. ................... | About Each Piece | All Fuchang Kiln pottery is handcrafted; minor variations in detail are inherent to each piece. During the kiln firing process, unpredictable elements like ash deposits or iron spots may emerge, creating unique textures that become the distinctive mark of each item. Should you have specific requirements regarding details, please let us know. We will provide photos for your confirmation before shipping. ................. | About Fuchang Kiln's Celadon Craquelure | We pursue simplicity, intentionally crafting a single layer of craquelure. Visually, after seasoning, it develops fine cracks resembling the shell of a tea-marbled egg. These patterns form during the cooling process after firing and can evolve; they are not fixed. Before seasoning, you can use your phone's flashlight to observe the general direction of the cracks. These cracks do not affect the functionality of the ware. With use, colors will seep into the cracks, creating different effects: black lines are known as "iron wire cracks," reddish-brown as "eel blood cracks," and tea-colored as "gold thread cracks." The ever-changing appearance imbues each piece with vitality. ................. | Important Notes | - Fuchang Kiln pottery is fired at high temperatures of 1240°C and can be safely cleaned with a scrubbing sponge or in a dishwasher.
