He was born in Yatang Village, Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province, and came from a family of artists. After coming to Taiwan in 1949, he studied ink painting and was introduced by Mr. Wang Shijie, President of Wuhan University, to study painting with Master Zhang Daqian. In 1978, he won the first place gold medal in the National Central Five Academy Art Exhibition and held 16 solo exhibitions in northern, central and southern Taiwan.
