Square Teacup - Violet 2-a

This teacup features a deeply expressive hand-painted violet, inspired by the flowers blooming in our pottery studio's garden in spring. Crafted using Shigaraki clay, the piece is gently shaped into a soft square while the clay is still pliable. After the painting and multiple firings, it is brought to completion. The simple yet warm iron oxide painting utilizes raw materials gathered from nearby rice paddies and an iron glaze custom-mixed in our own studio. The characteristic bleeding and subtle abrasions of the iron painting lend a profound depth to the teacup. Its subtly rounded form fits comfortably in the hand, allowing the warmth of the clay to transfer with a soothing touch. It's perfect for enjoying tea, coffee, or even sake.
