The body is made of Zhu Ni (red clay), followed by several layers of red clay glaze. It is fired at 1220 degrees Celsius, then undergoes a secondary carbonization reduction firing. During this process, hematite is reduced to magnetite, giving the mug magnetic properties that allow it to be attracted by magnets. This technique also softens the water, enhancing the flavors of tea, water, wine, and coffee. After the second firing, the mug presents a glossy black finish, both inside and out, requiring careful polishing. Unfired clay is glazed, then carved. After firing, it is adorned with gold to complete the piece. With use and care (simply by regular use, no external rinsing is needed), the mug will naturally develop a warm, lustrous sheen, aging uniquely according to the user's habits and developing a personal style.
During the carbonization firing process, carbon adheres to the clay body. At high temperatures, the carbon burns off, but it forms crystals with the minerals within the clay. The molecular structure of the clay body incorporates carbon, which can break down magnesium molecules in water, altering its quality.
* Personalization is available for the mug's surface.
