【Artist】
Sanyu (1901–1966), a native of Nanchong, Sichuan, was among the earliest Chinese students to study abroad under the Chinese government’s “Work-Study” program in 1920, heading to France. Sanyu’s works embody a unique fusion of Eastern and Western aesthetics, frequently featuring nudes, flowers, landscapes, and animals. Known for his free-spirited nature, Sanyu infused his works with subtle melancholy—his simple lines often evoke a sense of solitude that resonates deeply with viewers.
【Product Theme】 Chrysanthemum Folding Fan
This design is inspired by Painting (Collection No. 26884) from the National Museum of History. With bold color blocking, a withered branch, a solitary crow, and a cat twisting to lick its hind leg, the composition evokes a still, dreamlike world. The minimalist scene is imbued with a quiet, mysterious solitude—hallmarks of Sanyu’s expressive style.
