*Pterodactylus* (meaning "bird’s palm") lived in Europe and South America during the Early Cretaceous period. This large pterosaur, with a wingspan of approximately 6 meters, is primarily found in the Cambridge Greensand of England, dating back about 110 million years. Related fossils have also been discovered in the Santana Formation of Brazil, from 112 to 108 million years ago. *Pterodactylus* was one of the earliest large pterosaurs to appear.
