Deyue Building, located in Shuitou, was built in 1931 by Huang Huihuang after he became wealthy through trade. Due to rampant piracy and poor public security at the time, unique defensive structures were specially incorporated to ward off pirate attacks. As the building is tall, it was named "Deyue Building" with the meaning of "a nearby pavilion first receives the moonlight."
