The history of Raitami Shibu Uchiwa
Around 1600, a monk in Marugame passed on the craft of fan making as a token of gratitude for staying overnight.
It is said that Tadatoshi Hosokawa, the first feudal lord of the Higo Domain, encouraged the making of uchiwa fans in the land of the people who came here, which was blessed with materials.
Raitin Shibu Uchiwa, which can only be made by the people of Kumamoto, is said to be a prosperous business in the sense that "the people are coming."
It has also been used as a lucky charm as a gift.
○ What is “Shibu” in Shibu Uchiwa?
The liquid obtained by crushing and fermenting mamegaki is called persimmon tannin.
Kakishibu contains a large amount of tannin, which has excellent antiseptic, antibacterial, and insecticidal effects.
○ What is the use of astringent fan
Shibu fan is durable and long-lasting, so it has been impressed by customers as gifts and souvenirs for babies' birthdays, 60th birthdays, weddings, and company anniversaries.
○How to make a paper fan
The materials of the fan are madake bamboo, Japanese paper, and mamegaki (persimmon tannin).
Madake and Mamegaki go to the mountains to gather.
We want to provide genuine Shibu Uchiwa, so we do not compromise on the selection of materials.
While specialized craftsmen in each process perform strict checks
I will finish this one.
