These are SDGs jewelry pieces, mended with kintsugi, which upcycle ceramics from Fukuiku Kiln, a potter based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture.
Broken or chipped pottery that is no longer in use is upcycled, mended with kintsugi, and transformed into accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring the natural world and Japan's enduring traditions closer to people, and to give new life and possibilities to modern accessories that connect to the future.
Elegant ceramic fragments with hand-painted floral designs are adorned with freshwater pearls.
The sides of the ceramic pieces are mended with kintsugi, allowing the gold to shimmer even from the side, adding a touch of refinement.
These can be worn as a stylish accent to both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: 15 x 12mm
Hardware: Screw-back clip-on earrings (hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Despite being ceramic fragments, they are light and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is one-of-a-kind, they make perfect gifts.
They are also ideal for presenting to someone special.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we are unable to accommodate requests for hardware changes or remakes.
We also cannot create new pieces using the same ceramic fragments with different hardware.
*We will send the item pictured. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the ceramic fragments and natural stones compared to the photos.
* "Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair technique that mends broken or chipped pottery using lacquer and gold powder. This work is created using a modern, simplified kintsugi technique, which uses adhesive for bonding, unlike traditional kintsugi that uses natural lacquer derived from the urushi tree.
The kintsugi parts use lacquer (a manufactured coating, not raw urushi) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
