Coffee Flavor
The diverse components within green coffee beans undergo thermal degradation during roasting, forming various aromatic molecules that create complex flavor profiles. High-quality coffee beans possess naturally rich aromas that evolve delightfully at different temperatures—high, medium, and low—offering a truly enjoyable sensory experience worth savoring.

Ethiopia Gesha Village
At Gesha Village, uncompromising quality is pursued at every step of cultivation and processing. Each batch boasts rich floral and fruity aromas, along with representative coffee flavor elements, and is clearly graded. Coffees are meticulously selected through rigorous cupping processes, evaluated according to Specialty Coffee Association protocols, and then offered to global buyers in graded batches from Gesha Village. From extremely rare, high-end treasures to fully traceable single origins, the grading system is as follows:
Gold Label: RARITIES
The Gold Label represents only 10% of the total estate yield, making it exceptionally scarce. Auction lots from the estate are selected from this category, possessing top-tier flavor profiles, distinct and lasting aromas, and a refined texture, making it the preferred choice for international baristas competing.
Red Label: GROWERS' RESERVE
Red Label lots constitute only 15% of the estate's yield, exhibiting outstanding flavor and quality, with SCA cupping scores of 88 points and above.
Green Label: SINGLE TERROIR
These lots originate from a single production area within Gesha Village, with complete traceability information for each batch, including farm block name, coffee varietal, and processing date.
Gesha Village is situated in the Bench-Maji Zone of Ethiopia, covering a total area of 471 hectares, with 320 hectares dedicated to cultivation. The altitude ranges from 1909 to 2069 meters, with 27% designated as conservation areas. Based on climate and varietal, it is divided into eight blocks (Bangi / Shaya / Oma / Shewa-Jibabu / Dimma / Gaylee / Narsha / Surma). The Bench-Maji Zone, located in southwestern Ethiopia, is one of the two major regions for wild forest coffee in Ethiopia. Coffee trees in the wild forests are grown under shade, employing natural shading and intercropping methods to achieve sustainable environmental management.
Gesha Village aims to be the best and most environmentally conscious coffee farm in Ethiopia, committed to uncompromising quality at every stage of cultivation and processing, and dedicated to its employees and customers. It seeks to connect the world with Ethiopia and showcase its beauty in every perfect cup.

Malawi
Malawian coffee is known for its unique flavor profile, abundant sweetness, and captivating aromas. Smallholder farmers cultivate coffee using traditional methods, resulting in sweet, delicate flavors with rich floral notes and a hint of licorice and spice. Malawi is also a member of the Eastern Africa Fine Coffees Association (EAFCA) and has gained increasing favor among global coffee enthusiasts through its promotion at the annual Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) and Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) expos.
Despite funding challenges, Malawi's coffee industry is gradually gaining recognition in the global coffee market. Its Geisha coffee, introduced from neighboring Ethiopia in the mid-20th century, is now primarily grown in Malawi's highest quality region, Misuku Mountain. With altitudes ranging from 1,700 to 2,300 meters, the area boasts abundant weathered parent rocks rich in acidity. The soil is mostly deep brown-red clay and sandy loam, with a climate highly suitable for growing Arabica coffee beans, receiving 1,500 to 2,000 millimeters of rainfall annually.
In Malawi, coffee is mainly cultivated by smallholder farmers, particularly concentrated in the Viphya and Nyika Plateaux regions in the north. The Misuku Mountain coffee region, especially along the Songwe River basin bordering Malawi and Tanzania, is a major Arabica cultivation area. The coffee beans produced here, such as Agaro and Geisha, are renowned for their high quality and premium price. This batch of coffee beans has undergone four rounds of hand-sorting, ensuring that each bean is clean and plump, guaranteeing the highest quality.

Geisha/Gesha Varietal
Considered one of the "World's Top Ten Most Expensive Coffees" by Forbes, Geisha coffee is a legendary name in the specialty coffee world. There is considerable confusion surrounding the Geisha varietal, as multiple genetically distinct plant types are referred to as Geisha, many with similar geographical origins in Ethiopia. Recent genetic diversity analyses by World Coffee Research have confirmed that the T2722 variety grown in Panama and its descendants are unique and consistent. When cultivated at high altitudes and well-managed, it correlates with exceptionally high cupping scores and is renowned for its delicate floral, jasmine, and peach-like aromas.
Regarding the name, the spellings Geisha and Gesha are often used interchangeably, likely due to transliteration, as there is no fixed translation from Ethiopian dialects to English. The coffee was initially recorded in cultivation records with the spelling Geisha, and for decades, coffee researchers and databases largely maintained this spelling, leading to its wider adoption in the coffee industry. The varietal was originally collected from a mountain in Ethiopia whose name is commonly translated into English as either Gesha or Geisha.
In recent years, the cultivation of the Gesha varietal has surged worldwide, achieving excellent results in major competitions across Central and South America, including Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Colombia, and Peru, typically by transplanting the Panama T2722 variety. Furthermore, many high-altitude regions in Taiwan have begun growing Gesha, with higher altitudes generally yielding more captivating flavors.

Coffee Processes
This refers to the method used to transform ripe coffee cherries into dried green beans. Each process has its advantages and disadvantages, influenced by the local environment and specific needs of the origin. Thus, each region has suitable processing methods. The batches on this product page utilize either the Natural or Washed process, briefly described below.
【Natural Process】Natural / Sundried / Dry Processed
Also known as sun-dried or dry processed, this is the most traditional and common method, requiring no water. Originating in Ethiopia, coffee cherries are sun-dried before hulling, with the seed still inside. During the prolonged sun-drying period, the seeds absorb flavors from the skin, pulp, and mucilage, resulting in fuller sweetness and body, and easily creating unique aromas.
Coffee producers place all cherries on drying beds in the sun, which can be patios or raised drying tables. Over 3-6 weeks, the coffee ferments, and producers turn them to ensure even drying and prevent spoilage. During this time, the sugars in the fruit and the mucilage adhering to the seed create flavor and enhance sweetness. Once dried, machines separate the dried pulp and skin from the seed. Natural processed coffees are juicy and syrupy, making the effort well worth it.
【Washed Process】Washed / Wet Processed
Also known as wet processed, this method involves removing the skin and pulp from all coffee cherries before drying. The beans are then soaked in fermentation tanks to remove any remaining mucilage clinging to the seed, followed by washing with water and drying in the sun or by machine.
The Washed process yields a cleaner, crisper cup with lighter body compared to the Natural process. It typically offers brighter flavor profiles and the vibrant acidity essential for specialty coffee. Fruity notes are still present, and the flavors are often easier to distinguish.
