In classical Chinese, the character "系" (xì) is a homophone for "繫" (jì), meaning "to tie" or "to bind."
"The red thread of fate ties the feet of husband and wife. When they sit, they are subtly bound together. Even between families of enemies, or those of disparate wealth, or those serving in distant lands in Wu and Chu, once this thread is tied, escape is impossible."
The legend of the matchmaker, Yue Lao, originates from the Tang Dynasty tale "Record of Strange Tales from the Azure Studio. The Marriage Fixer" by Li Fu-yan. In the story, the young man Wei Gu, guided by the elder's matchmaking, eventually married the daughter of a vegetable seller, just as the elder had predicted years earlier.
This passage speaks of men and women bound by a red thread who, regardless of being enemies, having vast differences in wealth, or being separated by thousands of miles, will ultimately become husband and wife.
**:: Two Beads ::**
The Matchmaker Series **embodies the benevolent wish of the matchmaker legend**. Two Palo Santo beads are tied to the ends of the bracelet, looping around to meet and embrace each other.
**This symbolizes the invisible thread of destiny connecting two people,** traversing thousands of mountains and rivers, ultimately leading to growing old together, inseparable.
**In Tibetan Buddhism, the Vajra knot signifies the removal of obstacles, protection, and sacred Dharma.** The main cord is woven with a light, four-strand braid, finished with a Vajra knot that connects to Buddhist teachings. Blessings are woven into each knot with wax cord. Worn on the person, it offers protective and blessing power, bringing spiritual stability and happiness for the sensitive you, and for him or her, especially when entering environments with low frequencies or mixed energies.
**:: Peruvian Palo Santo ::**

**Made with genuine 8mm Peruvian Palo Santo beads, each retaining its unique natural wood grain.**
**Rich in natural Palo Santo oils, it emanates a warm, heart-soothing red wood aroma.**
Palo Santo possesses a tranquil, grounding power. It is a sacred plant native to Central and South America, revered in the Inca Empire.
The Spanish name "Palo Santo" itself means "holy wood."
Since ancient times, it has been highly respected in sacred spaces and rituals in the West, with uses second only to white sage.
It is believed to transform energy and offer protection, connecting the body, mind, and spirit, and purifying spaces.
**:: Blessing at Taipei Xiahai City God Temple ::**
During the preparation for the Matchmaker Series (Palo Santo Bracelet),
I was reminded that after receiving a red thread from Yue Lao myself, I have been with my current husband for 16 years.
This inspired me to arrange a small trip to Taipei with my daughter. I brought my materials and visited the Taipei Xiahai City God Temple for blessings and consecration. My daughter, then only 6 years old, steadily held the DSLR camera and captured the consecration record for me (the first photo).
Since then, "Gardens Have Tree Hollows" has established a tradition: **all newly purchased materials must be brought to the Taipei Xiahai City God Temple for consecration.**
The **Taipei Xiahai City God Temple** is located on Dihua Street. It not only enshrines Yue Lao (the God of Marriage) but is primarily dedicated to the City God of Xiahai in the main hall. It also accommodates many other deities, including the Eight Generals, Eight Department Officials, and others. The Buddha shrine mainly enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva, along with Bodhisattvas such as Bodhidharma, Maudgalyayana, Ksitigarbha, Maitreya, the Earth God, and Lord Guan.

**/ Brand Origin /**
Initially, during my daily Buddhist chanting, I used a mala made of 108 Palo Santo beads. I also carried it with me when I went out, and its emanating fragrance brought me peace.
My daughter often played with my mala and loved its scent. So, one day, I took some extra Palo Santo beads and fashioned a bracelet for her. Seeing how she cherished it, wearing it to school as if it carried my companionship, I felt inspired to share this fragrant blessing and prayer with more people.
**⫯⫰**
Below the mountain lies a garden;
In the garden, there is a tree hollow; within the tree hollow, there is light.
I once had a mountain in my heart, and for years I felt an urgent need to escape everything and return to it.
Below the mountain, a garden bloomed, nurturing me. After many years, a tree hollow grew, and gradually, light appeared.
From then on, I no longer felt the intense need to return to the mountain. I became the mountain, I became the tree, I became the light.
If you pass by, feel free to take a piece, share a word, and let us illuminate each other.
May every person wearing this bracelet find peace and freedom.
