HELIOS-44 is a standard coated lens for Soviet SLR 35 mm Zenit cameras.
The lens can be fitted on the M42 Pentax cameras.
First HELIOS-44 lenses were borrowed from Carl Zeiss BIOTAR lenses and issued since end of 1950th years in M39, then in M42 screw mount, and had not very good glory at Black-&-White photography times because were with low contrast in common... But latest versions of HELIOS-44 lens became very sharp, but lost very special soft lines at images.
This famous lens was manufactured in the USSR, and features outstanding sharpness, contrast and color rendition, and very special bokeh and plastics, and it is the reason why modern photographers looks for HELIOS-44 lenses and installs it to modern dSLR cameras.
I saw photos taken with similar lenses several times before and I appreciated very special pictures quality.
In the main, most all Soviet and Russian lenses are exceptionally good and this one is no exception!

* Focus 58 mm.
* Angle of view about 42 degrees.
* Optical registration 45.2mm.
* Relative aperture 1:2.0 (up to 1:16 with clicks).
* Additional ring for fast closing aperture from full opened to preinstalled meaning.
* Mounting M39 x 1mm groove (like LTM but with other optical registration). It used with old Zenit and Kristall cameras.
* Very simple adapter allows mounting to M42 x 1mm groove, known as Pentax Thread Mount, same with a lot of old SLR cameras (Practica, Chinon, Yashika, Bessaflex etc). In turn, mounting for modern SLR & dSLR cameras will not bring any trouble with well-spread M42 adapters. Thus you will look for two adapters, or may be even you'll find direct M39 adapter for your camera.
* Focusing from 0.5m.
* Scale of distances in meters.
* Filter mount M 49.5x0.75mm.
* 8 aperture blades version.
* Made at KMZ plant near the Moscow city (it has the special symbol).
* Pretty in using.
* Silver painting.
* The lens was made in end of 1960th in the USSR.
