Just as summer was approaching and I was gearing up for some surfing, my life instantly plunged into a long, dark period. For a long time, I spent my days crying, visiting clinics, undergoing physical therapy, and attending counseling. I even swore, "I'll never go bouldering again in my life" (a sentiment I still hold six months later🤣). Suddenly, life felt devoid of motivation; I didn't want to work, I didn't want to do anything. I kept asking why—why did this happen to me? Why am I so unlucky? But as time slowly moved forward, the diligent physical therapy actually started to work, and my ankle began to heal! (Of course?) Recently, I posted a poll asking if people in their late twenties to early thirties experience a lack of motivation in life. To my surprise, about 70% of respondents felt the same way! I wondered if it was the injury, or perhaps the age of thirty that leads to uncertainty about life and a general sense of demotivation. Could the injury have simply coincided with a time when I discovered that I could still make an effort to improve? I decided to practice making ordinary days more romantic. Although I couldn't surf due to my injury, it allowed me to seek joy in places other than surfing. Living life slowly and deliberately, it seems everything can become simple and pure. Even just waking up early to make a hearty breakfast, reading a good book, taking a walk, gazing at the sea, or seeing a slight improvement in my ankle could bring me great happiness.
