Imari ware is the general name for porcelain produced in Japan's Hizen province, centered on Arita. In the early seventeenth century after the Imjin Japanese Rebellion, Japan was able to produce porcelain in its own country. Porcelain makers from Korea discovered suitable kaolin in Mount Arita. The porcelain exported from Imari Port north of Arita became famous internationally. For convenience, let’s call it Imari porcelain. Over time, the technology of making porcelain was fully developed, producing many different styles of porcelain and influencing China and overseas.
