Finca Altieri's proprietor, Eugene P. Altieri, is originally from New York, USA, but has lived in Panama for over 40 years.
He owns two estates, both in the renowned Boquete region. One estate is at a lower altitude, around 1350 meters,
while the other reaches an altitude of 2000 meters. The coffee varieties grown include Criollo, Caturra, Catuai, Catimor, and Geisha. The Geisha variety from the high-altitude estate is what Le Brewlife has selected this time!
Both estates have been highly successful under his management,
earning awards at the Best of Panama (BOP) coffee competition every year since 2013!
In addition to improving coffee quality, they continuously advance coffee production techniques, and the quality of life for their coffee farmers and employees is also consistently being enhanced.
Panama, among coffee-producing nations, does not have poor foundational conditions or low wages. However, compared to coffee-consuming countries, the conditions for laborers are still quite backward.
Finca Altieri is very keen on improving this situation. Proprietor Eugene and his management team have implemented a forward-thinking care plan!
They aim to improve the lives of the partners who are dedicated to cultivating the estates, and the quality of life for these coffee farmers and employees has indeed seen rapid improvement.
Currently, every coffee farmer and employee family has an independent apartment, a private room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
These facilities, which we take for granted, were previously lacking for these coffee farmers and employees.
While providing these welfare facilities, to prevent misuse, Eugene's management team requires each family to sign an agreement.
Concurrently, the entire community is self-governing, electing management committee members to maintain the cleanliness of the living environment.
These families even participate in weekly faith services together, and the women attend sewing classes, selling handmade home decor products to supplement family income.
The estate not only produces excellent quality coffee but also serves as an outstanding model of dedication to its coffee farmers and employees.
The commitment to people, quality, and the land has received very positive feedback, as evidenced by the estate's award history!
Beyond its exceptional flavor, the estate's quality control is also highly commendable!
