✨ Exceptionally refined, finer and softer than standard boiled wool bases. Gorgeous beadwork complements the sunset-gold, mountain-purple, and orange-red gradient stripes. The deeper, muted base colors prevent the design from being too loud, making it surprisingly versatile. Sparkling purple beads and sequins, along with special, intricate embroidery threads, evoke the grandeur of a magnificent palace filled with blessings. This one-of-a-kind, luxurious scarf is not just about warmth but also adds a touch of refined detail to your outfits.
While scarves from the Kashmir region of Northern India may appear visually rich with motifs like paisley and vibrant embroidery threads or beadwork, they transform into a more subdued elegance when worn. The patterns become more understated, leaving an impression of blended colors and fragmented artistry, all while revealing intricate details to be savored. Therefore, we often showcase our scarves styled as they would be worn, draped or bundled, to help you envision their appearance.
★A warm scarf by your side, in the car, or at the office, it shields you from winter winds and keeps you comfortable in air-conditioned spaces during summer. It's a practical item and an essential for travel. This unique handmade shawl/scarf not only provides warmth but ensures you are the most radiant figure in every photograph.
Kashmiri wool is a gift from nature, crafted with the master artisan's heartfelt dedication.
The gentlest scarf, the warmest blessings.
Choose the most precious and warm gift for yourself and your loved ones.
Care and Maintenance Notes:
★ Each piece is a unique, handmade wool artwork, individually crafted by artisans, meaning each one is one-of-a-kind.
★ Handmade wool products may exhibit slight irregularities that are characteristic of manual craftsmanship, unlike machine-made items where uniformity is exact. You might notice a misplaced thread or minor color variations. Should there be significant imperfections, they will be clearly noted with accompanying photographs. If you are particularly sensitive to the handcrafted aesthetic, please consider this carefully. Those new to handmade textiles are welcome to inquire about specific item details via message.
★ Wool products should not be machine washed. Dry cleaning once a season is recommended. If hand washing is necessary, use a wool-specific detergent or mild shampoo, washing gently and separately (darker colors may experience slight dye bleeding). Air dry and iron on a low setting with a towel between the iron and the fabric (avoid direct sunlight).
★ The items we select are akin to fine, handcrafted art pieces, especially our cashmere products, which require gentle handling. Fingernails, jewelry, bag hardware, and zippers on clothing, as well as Velcro, can potentially snag the fibers, so please handle with care. Cashmere is lighter and softer, but our wool products are more resistant to abrasion. We select virgin wool and lambswool or use the boiled wool technique, which is softer and more skin-friendly than standard wool. We personally do not find them noticeably itchy, but if you are particularly concerned about itchiness, we will mark them accordingly or you can message us for inquiries.
★ Each scarf will be accompanied by an eco-friendly, minimalist kraft paper box, suitable for gifting to your dearest ones.
Xiannvxing Selects - Northern Indian Kashmiri Wool Handmade Scarf/Shawl
Boiled Wool Scarf/
Due to the high altitude of the Kashmir plateau and its lower boiling point, a unique boiled wool technique has been developed. Repeated boiling and drying processes result in wool that is fluffier and softer, making it more skin-friendly than conventional wool products. The multi-layered yarn is thick and soft for excellent wind protection, complemented by meticulously color-matched hand-embroidered yarn for exquisite detail. (Can be worn on both sides; one side features contrasting or lighter tones. The reverse side may have a few hand-tied yarn knots. Both sides are wearable for those who don't mind.)
Traditional Kani Craftsmanship/
Kani is a classical Indian weaving art (not printing). Traditionally, it involved weaving patterns of vines, flowers, paisley, maple leaves, and more, one thread at a time using wooden shuttles. A single piece could take months to complete. Modern, more common versions are often machine-woven, requiring time-consuming manual thread trimming on the reverse, leaving weft threads visible, resembling impressionistic paintings. Some people also enjoy wearing these pieces on the reverse.
Hand Embroidery/
The embroidery threads along the entire shawl are meticulously hand-stitched, one by one. Unlike machine embroidery, they may not be perfectly aligned or flat, but this lends them a unique charm. The details are delicate and beautiful, featuring vibrant vines or the paisley motif representing endless growth and royalty, exuding a romantic Bohemian garden ambiance.
Kalenkali Hand-Dye & Embroidery/
This combines India's renowned dyeing techniques with hand embroidery. The intricate dyeing patterns across the shawl are then outlined with embroidery threads of various colors. The complementary piano border at the bottom showcases a Kani-like charm. Experience the richness of two traditional crafts simultaneously, offering a wealth of detail worthy of collection.
