African Wenge Wood: This is a diffuse-porous wood. The sapwood is pale yellow, while the heartwood is chocolate-colored with alternating light and dark bands, or dark brown with white stripes. The distinction between heartwood and sapwood is clear, and growth rings are evident. The wood features a unique "partridge feather" grain pattern. Typically, the wood has a straight grain, a medium and uniform structure, and no distinct odor. It is highly resistant to decay, naturally resistant to fungal rot and termite infestation, and contains abundant dark resin. The material is hard and heavy.
