When was Hong Kong named "Hong Kong"? Hong Kong Island was marked as "Hong Kong" on the nautical map attached to the "Yue Da Ji" of the Ming Dynasty. On the map, there are also place names such as Shau Kei Wan, Stanley, Tai Tam, and Wong Nai Chung that are still popular today. Later, the coastal defense map of "Xin'an County Chronicle" recorded "Red Incense Burner" on the location of Hong Kong Island.
A map included in the publication Form Follows Fever: Malaria and the Construction of Hong Kong, 1841–1849 has another expression. In 1810, Englishmen Daniel Ross and Philip Maughan drew a map of The Macao Roads, outlining the topography of the Pearl River Delta region. Place names written in Chinese can also be seen on the map. The location of Hong Kong Island is marked as "Red River".
From the "Red River" of the day to the "Hong Kong" of today, the Chinese University of Hong Kong Press specially designed a cylindrical canvas bag based on the map of 1810, adding metal button design and adjustable length. The backpack is printed with D. Ross and P. Maughan, The Macao Roads (detail), a map of Hong Kong in 1810. It can hold a phone, Silver, keys, tissues, books and other small items.
