Crafted with Shino glaze—originally from Mino, Japan, and primarily composed of feldspar—this piece features a custom-blended application by the artist, resulting in a gentle, warm finish with rich tonal variations. The White Shino style is achieved through an exacting process: applying the white glaze to the bisque-fired vessel, followed by precise control of kiln temperature and high-temperature reduction. About the Artist | Master Yu Huayu Born in 1980, he discovered his passion for hand-thrown pottery during middle school. After his military service, he moved to Yingge to study under Master Wu Guorong and Master Wu Jiancai, dedicating over twenty years to ceramic art. He has developed the Yohen Shino, Rock Mineral, and Purple Clay Cloud series, while also successfully reproducing Song Dynasty celadon firing techniques. Creative Philosophy Master Yu centers his work on kiln transmutation, believing that every piece is a collaborative creation between the artist and the user across time. Each crack and layer of color matures with daily use, resulting in an object of true "utility beauty." He aspires to turn the act of tea tasting into an extension of one's refined lifestyle.
