Men are responsible for tribal activities, fishing, and construction. The Amis revere nature, believing all blessings come from the natural world, and traditionally sustained themselves through fishing, hunting, and agriculture. Their primary festival is the Harvest Festival, celebrating the millet harvest and honoring spirits, carrying the solemn significance of passing down traditions to young men as they come of age. The six traditional Amis totems: Mother's Eyes symbolize maternal love and harmony; Hand-in-Hand Dance represents the celebration of a bountiful harvest; Ocean Waves signify a life of fishing and hunting; Feathers represent warriors; and Unity of Heaven and Humanity symbolizes the cosmos. Inspired by traditional life and celebrations, this piece incorporates six traditional totems. The clay fish symbolizes fishing and hunting, while Job's tears represent the bounty of agricultural harvests.
