The printing technique employed here is neither digital nor screen printing; it's discharge printing, a complex process where each outcome yields a unique color variation. To explain discharge printing in the simplest terms: the fabric is first dyed entirely black using specialized dyes for this technique, not ordinary ones. This process creates a black base fabric. Then, a reducing agent is used to remove the black dye, revealing the underlying color, which in this case is white, forming the pattern. Before this discharge process, the pattern is meticulously drawn and carved into a printing block, ensuring the revealed white areas form the desired design. Following this, the fabric undergoes color fixing and setting, then a relaxed wash and tumble dry to achieve its natural characteristics. Due to the intricate steps and specialized techniques involved, this process is costly and results in significant material loss. Discharge printing is not a common method, as few dye houses possess the necessary expertise and equipment. Crucially, the resulting aesthetic is paramount. The color of the polka dots is also vital; pure white dots can appear too stark and lack natural integration. Therefore, the dot color was adjusted to a more natural, slightly grayish-white hue, giving it a vintage feel. The polka dots on the reverse are more blurred and lean towards a grayer tone. Despite this, we have still made a distinction. These charming carrot pants feature a comfortable elastic waistband with a drawstring, designed with a generous width for a relaxed and gentle silhouette. Side pockets add a playful touch, bringing a unique vibrancy amidst a sea of polka dots.
