Our scraped chopsticks are made using 100% natural lacquer and are finished with rubbed lacquer (wiped lacquer). The characteristic of this technique is that it allows the wood grain and texture to be brought out by repeatedly applying and wiping off lacquer, little by little. The lacquer itself has fine particles that give it a rough texture. If you would like to have the tips of your scraped chopsticks re-lacquered, you can pick them up at a Hyozaemon store.
