Kiriko glass made by independent Kiriko glass artist Saito Hikaru.
We have mastered the secret techniques of hand polishing at an Edo Kiriko workshop that has been in business for over 100 years, and we have adopted this polishing method that respects tradition because it offers many benefits to users, even though it may be less productive or less profitable.
While respecting traditional designs, we strive to create interesting designs that ordinary Edo Kiriko craftsmen would not create.
Product Description
Product Name: Toast Shot Glass
Dimensions: mouth diameter φ46mm x height H75mm
Capacity: 80ml
Product code: SK-S-ki-105
We began production with the aim of creating a product that would improve the quality of shot glasses.
It is a free-flowing design that does not have any vertical or horizontal boundaries.
The original design was structured logically, but as I was making it I instinctively wanted to cut away a part, and I couldn't resist the urge, so I intuitively cut it away partway through.
It's somewhere between traditional and original, and also between logical and intuitive.
It's a very well balanced design and I personally really like it.
The intention is to allow the bottom to be clearly visible so you can enjoy the color of the drink.
It is clear and transparent, so you can see the taste of whiskey or tequila.
- Color differences due to materials such as oak barrels and sherry barrels
-Differences in aging periods for reposado, añejo, etc.
I think the design allows you to fully enjoy the colors of the barrel-aged wine.
In addition to that intention, the design aims to raise the quality by adding a pleasant mouthfeel and feel to the touch.
To improve the feel, we made three very deep cuts on the sides, which almost change the shape of the base.
We believe this gives the edge of the glass the comfortable feel that is unique to Kiriko glass when held.
The functionality that creates a sense of texture is what connects to the design, creating functional beauty.
There is also intricate detail around the mouth.
By rubbing it in a semicircular motion at an angle towards your mouth, it feels very pleasant in your mouth.
This smooth texture has a different kind of feel to it than the trendy thin glass.
We would like you to drink water when you first use it, as I think the water will taste really good because of how smooth it is.
I have identified and considered in my own way the factors that humans consider to be good-tasting.
It has been created to meet three of those requirements, and I believe you will be very satisfied with the craftsmanship.
This is also a case of design that is the result of pursuing functionality, and functional beauty.
A traditional chrysanthemum pattern is cut into the area above the emblem in the center of the glass.
The Kiku-tsunagi pattern is the most difficult cut among traditional patterns.
Chrysanthemums are associated with auspicious meanings such as longevity, good health, and nobility.
In addition, some parts are polished and then given a matte finish to give them a frosted glass look.
This is the area circled in black.
Adding a matte finish accentuates the elegance of the glass.
Finally, to summarize the features of this glass,
-A design somewhere between traditional and original
-Design that is somewhere between logic and intuition
- The deep cut edges on the sides feel nice to the touch
・Good taste
・The difficulty level of the link has been cut
・It has been designed so that a triangle appears when viewed from above.
- Matte finish for a luxurious look
The bottom shape is interesting and feels good to the touch.
I think that's about it.
We hope you will consider purchasing these products for yourself, as gifts, for celebrations, to make them look good on Instagram, or to improve your store's brand image.
