With use, the fibers gently meld together, developing a unique, felted texture over time. To enhance this softness and texture even further, each pair is carefully washed before being sent to you. Furthermore, the "crimp" – the natural waviness of wool fibers – varies greatly by sheep breed. British wool is characterized by its dense and abundant crimp, even more so than that of ordinary sheep. A higher crimp content results in yarn with superior sponginess, elasticity, and loft.
