The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze application, firing the piece at 1260°C. Over 20 hours of intense heat transform the material within the kiln, allowing it to contract and flow, creating the intricate patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will fail to produce the "peacock display" pattern. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessively high temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the accompanying plate, potentially damaging both the tea bowl and the plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors intertwine in this process, and despite years of dedicated study, achieving absolute precision remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent variability that imbues each finished piece with its preciousness. The artist hopes this work inspires a spirit of unwavering hope and persistent effort when facing any adversity, encouraging everyone to one day unfurl their own beautiful "feathers" like a peacock, illuminating their lives with brilliance.
