Istituto Fotocromo Italiano (IFI), an Italian photographic institution,
was founded in Florence in 1928 by engineer Vincenzo Balocchi.
In addition to his engineering research, he was also a renowned amateur photographer
and had served as the art director for Fratelli Alinari.
-
Today, IFI remains led by the same family as in its early days.
Each product carries an authentic Italian heritage,
with all processes—from materials and design to production and printing—completed in Italy.
The paper used is also Italian fine art paper,
perfectly showcasing the printed colors.
This approach continues the rich artistic traditions of Italy and other European nations.
-
For IFI,
their work is primarily inspired by rich nostalgic styles and local characteristics.
Their themes span opera, film, advertising, architecture, classic literature, and more,
creating a distinctive and all-encompassing aesthetic.
Through their imagery, we are invited to envision the atmosphere of a bygone era.
If you find yourself captivated by medieval Europe,
IFI's creations may offer a wealth of inspiration.
