The young Lin Yushan made his mark at official art exhibitions, and "Zhu Luan" was the work that was exhibited that year. During the Taiwanese Exhibition, the Japanese encouraged artists to depict Taiwan in their paintings to reflect Taiwanese characteristics. Lin Yushan replaced the camellias in Hayami Mifune's "Scattered Stumps of Famous Trees" with grapefruits that were abundant in Kanan at that time. The lush tree body and numerous fruits are laid out. This harvest comes with a moment of leisure that goes without saying. The cat resting under the red bay tree is looking up at the flying wasps, adding to the vivid interest of the painting. The simple and neat composition and the complex combination of pomelo leaves form a slightly more gorgeous Japanese painting style, which is the characteristic of Lin Yushan during this period.
