Xiao-Min is a young adult with moderate intellectual disabilities who works in the kitchen department at Maria Social Welfare Foundation.
Xiao-Min joined the kitchen department at Maria's when she was 18 and has been working there for over 10 years.
Although she was born with intellectual disabilities due to oxygen deprivation during birth, which also affects her verbal expression;
She also has congenital visual impairment, making her eyes prone to losing focus and lacking a sense of depth perception.
Yet, she has overcome the challenges of visual recognition step by step, starting with sorting vegetables.
Gradually, she has taken on tasks such as stirring large pots of food and plating, becoming a capable assistant to the chefs in the kitchen department.
While unable to perceive depth,
Xiao-Min expresses the joys and sorrows of her life through high-contrast flat color blocks, strong lines, and vibrant hues.
And just like anyone else, after class, she would secretly give her favorite teachers small pieces of paper filled with drawings of them.
Where there is passion, life will find its way.
