Inhabits forests at low to mid-altitudes, highly adaptable to fragmented forests resulting from development, not overly wary of humans, often perches in conspicuous locations, and can tolerate human activity at a moderate distance. As its common name "Serpent Eagle" suggests, its diet consists primarily of snakes and reptiles, but it also preys on other animals ranging from earthworms to large passerines.
