Ode to Joy - Crew Socks

Xiao Yi is a young woman with moderate intellectual disabilities at Maria Social Welfare Foundation, where she tends to plants in the Vocational Training and Employment Support Group. Due to a difficult birth, doctors used forceps, causing damage to her cerebral cortex, which resulted in developmental delays and epilepsy. However, her mother and grandmother never gave up on her. From a young age, they took her to learn pottery and painting, hoping she could express her feelings through art. Xiao Yi started painting at a very young age, but her work was always very formulaic. It wasn't until Ms. Shu Zhi, an art volunteer at Maria, began to understand Xiao Yi's inner world through conversation and guided her to paint from her imagination. Opening the teacher's notebook reveals pages filled with records of Xiao Yi's joys and worries, big and small. Xiao Yi's artwork began to showcase "Xiao Yi's style," earning her numerous accolades in competitions. Her emotions also became more stable; the Xiao Yi who used to get angry easily now smiles often! "Everyone needs to be understood."
