As a natural material, and due to the leather factory's use of vegetable tanning methods that minimize damage to the hide, the leather surface may inevitably bear minor "scars," "wrinkles," or "vein marks." We make every effort to avoid these during the cutting process or to place such areas on less visible or non-stressed parts of the product. 2. Hand-Stitched Seams Our products are not made using sewing machines; all items are meticulously hand-stitched. Before stitching, special diamond chisels are used to punch stitch holes in the leather, which is essential for achieving the beautiful, wavy stitch effect that distinguishes our work from machine-sewn items. While this significantly increases production time, it is a crucial step where the leather artisan imbues the piece with soul and a warm, tactile quality. 3. Hand-Finished Edges Before a piece is considered complete, the leather edges are carefully sanded and burnished. This process ensures the edges appear smooth, rounded, and natural. "TANGENT LINEAR" employs its own unique edge-finishing technique. First, sandpaper is used to repeatedly smooth any sharp edges. Then, an edge-finishing liquid is applied to create a level surface, a process repeated 2-3 times. Following this, a layer of edge-wax is applied, and the edges are burnished repeatedly with a polishing tool until they achieve a smooth finish. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed products, "TANGENT LINEAR" currently uses imported Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes from the United States. To achieve a uniform and natural coloration, we begin by dampening the leather surface with water. Then, using a sponge, the dye is applied repeatedly, layer by layer, from light to deep, until the desired hue is reached. Once dry, a color sealant is applied to enhance colorfastness. The surface is also treated with water and wiped to remove any surface dust, further refining the color's evenness. As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations exist between the colors of individual bags, making each one distinct.
