Title of Work | Leisurely

The Great Wisdom Treatise, Volume 9: "All dharmas are like illusions; the Buddha's wisdom is pure and free from all thoughts; when the mind has no place to dwell, it attains liberation."
Classic background and author introduction
The Great Wisdom Treatise was written by Bodhisattva Nagarjuna between the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD and is hailed as the founding work of the Mahayana Buddhist thought on emptiness. This treatise takes the Prajnaparamita Sutra as its theme and explains how to transcend troubles with wisdom and realize the ultimate path to liberation. Nagarjuna advocated that "wisdom does not dwell on appearances, and compassion is integrated into the world." This theory has profoundly influenced the development of Chinese Buddhism, especially Zen and Yogacara thought.
Vernacular Translation and Philosophical Thinking
All things are like illusions that are constantly born and destroyed, only the wisdom of Buddha is clear and untainted, and does not cling to any thoughts. If you can let your mind settle in a state of non-attachment, you can be free from troubles and achieve true freedom and liberation.
This is the root of the Buddhist concept of "leisure" - it is not a deliberately contrived stillness, but a transcendent clarity and transparency in one's heart.
Design Interpretation
The design of "Leisurely" features Water Moon Guanyin as the main scene, sitting quietly beside a mossy Stone, with her left hand gently grasping and her right knee bent, showing a gentle and broad compassionate demeanor. Its posture is derived from the sitting posture of "Free Guanyin" commonly seen in Guanyin statues from the Song Dynasty, symbolizing that although Guanyin enters the world to save people from suffering, she always resides in the realm of Prajna.
The white stones in the round bowl are like pure land, and the green moss grows naturally like the roots of wisdom, just like the peace and brightness that naturally emerges from one’s heart when one sits in meditation with a clear mind.

Bencao Gangmu ✦ One scene, one meaning, respect the nature

Each moss jade is a testimony to a natural miracle. Its beauty comes from its uncontrollable natural generation and free growth. The plants on these moss balls, from the pteris fern to the cilantro, from the small-leaved water Linen to the maidenhair fern, each one is a masterpiece of nature, impossible to replicate and unpredictable.

Buddha Sculpture Style
Before Buddhism was introduced to China, the sculpture style of India's Kushan Empire or Gupta Dynasty emphasized femininity and the soft curves of the body, which was related to India's aesthetic concepts at the time. Therefore, in early Buddhist statues, Guanyin was often portrayed as full of kindness and gentleness. These characteristics later influenced early Chinese Buddhist statues, especially in Buddhist sculptures from the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Sui and Tang Dynasties, where this emphasis on feminine curves can be seen.
