Kiriko glass made by independent Kiriko glass artist Saito Hikaru.
We learned the secret techniques of hand polishing at an Edo Kiriko workshop that was founded over 100 years ago, and even though we consider the productivity and profitability of the technique low, we value the tradition and want to deliver authentic Kiriko to our users, so we also value the technique of hand polishing.
While respecting traditional designs, we aim to create interesting designs that ordinary Edo Kiriko craftsmen would not create, so we are sure you will find a great piece that strikes a chord with you.

The design is inspired by cat's toy and willow, and is made to intersect with each other.
The willow motif came about because, around the same time I was thinking about the design, the master of a bar I frequented told me about a drink called "Yanagikage."
During the Edo period, mirin was a sweet alcoholic drink that was traded as a luxury drink.
So I mixed it with some cheap shochu and drank a drink called "Ryuin."
The willow parts are intentionally cut quite deeply.
This allows you to feel the edge of the cut glass with your fingers and experience the overwhelming quality of its texture.
In addition, the drinking spout is rubbed in a semicircular shape so that it is slightly inclined inward.
I tried rubbing the mouth of the bottle in about 10 different patterns, and determined that a semicircular shape provided the best mouthfeel.
We would like you to try plain water first, and we think you will find that its smooth texture makes plain water taste better than usual.
Our initial concept was to create a design that would evoke the image of squeezing mirin, which contains glucose, to extract willow shade, and also the image of clearing cat's-noodle seeds in a colander, threshing them, and making them edible.
However, I felt that this would end up making the design too cluttered, so in order to highlight the beauty of the cat's toy and the willow, I cut the intersecting centre along the lines of those elements and gave it a matte finish (like frosted glass).
This not only gave the design a streamlined look, but also added a sense of elegance and beauty that cannot be achieved through simple polishing.
When viewed from above, it has a beauty like a flower lover or ripples on water.
Between the cat's toy and the willow, we have applied a traditional chrysanthemum basket weave cut.
Although cutting is extremely difficult and takes a lot of time, we actively adopted it for this design because it creates a good balance between the parts that become transparent and the parts that retain their color.
Personally, I think it's a masterpiece and I'm very satisfied with the job done.
We would be delighted if you could try this product, which is full of the artisan's finest craftsmanship.
We hope you will consider purchasing this product for yourself, as a gift, or to improve your store's brand image.
