The thread motifs are crafted using Ñandutí, a traditional embroidery technique from Paraguay in South America. ✼••┈┈┈┈••✼••┈┈┈┈••✼ ◎ What is Ñandutí? Ñandutí, in the indigenous Guaraní language, means "spiderweb." As the name suggests, it is a delicate handicraft created with thread. A base thread is stretched, and patterns are formed by weaving or knotting another thread onto it. Once the embroidery is starched and stiffened, and the embroidered portion is detached from the fabric, the Ñandutí is complete. The texture is quite crisp and firm, maintaining its shape while retaining the soft feel of the thread material. When made into accessories, the characteristic lace-like transparency of Ñandutí is incredibly charming. ✼••┈┈┈┈••✼••┈┈┈┈••✼ We wanted to create earrings that fully showcase the unique gradient of Ñandutí, so we designed them with a high-contrast color scheme to make the gradient stand out (warp threads are ecru, weft threads are black). The weaving technique is precise, with weft threads woven right up to the very edge of the motif. The two rows of beads, woven like a border along the hem of the motif, add a lovely touch. Two types of beads are used: those with a metallic sheen and translucent white beads.
