Ñandutí means "spiderweb" in the indigenous Guaraní language. As the name suggests, it is a delicate handcrafted technique using thread. Patterns are created by weaving or knotting additional threads onto a stretched warp thread. The process is complete once the embroidery is starched and stiffened, and the embroidered portion is separated from the base fabric. The texture is quite crisp and moderately firm, maintaining its shape while still retaining the softness inherent to the thread material. When made into accessories, the unique lace-like transparency of Ñandutí is incredibly charming. ✼••┈┈┈┈••✼••┈┈┈┈••✼ We wanted to create earrings that fully showcase the gradient characteristic of Ñandutí, so we chose a high-contrast color scheme to make the gradient stand out (ecru for the warp threads, black for the weft threads). The weaving technique is precise, with weft threads woven right up to the edge of the motif. Two rows of beads, intricately woven around the hem of the motif, add a touch of cuteness.
