Fired at 1260 degrees Celsius, it undergoes a 20-hour transformation in the kiln. This intense heat allows the glaze to shrink and flow, creating the intricate patterns and fluid movement reminiscent of a peacock's feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the delicate adjustment of the firing temperature curve. Too thin or insufficient heat fails to produce the "peacock display" pattern, while excessive thickness or heat can cause the glaze to run onto the base, potentially damaging both the cup and the accompanying plate. Even ambient temperature fluctuations can influence the final outcome. Despite years of dedicated study, mastering these variables remains an elusive pursuit, which is precisely what imbues each finished piece with its precious rarity. The artist hopes this work inspires others to embrace hope in the face of adversity, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to ultimately unfurl their own magnificent "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
