We have consistently created original wooden spoons for use with tea, as dessert dishes, fruit bowls, or for display. Initially, the wooden spoon pendants were conceived as distinctive accessories for our studio designers. However, they were so well-received that we decided to offer this series. Aged cypress wood is rare and difficult to source. **The aged wood in our studio is reclaimed from old furniture and beams from ancestral homes in our hometown.** Larger pieces are used for bigger projects, while only smaller offcuts are fashioned into accessories. These are **limited edition custom pieces, embodying the concept of renewal for old materials.** **Please note: Each item is unique. While pieces may share a similar shape, their grain patterns will differ due to the natural characteristics of the wood. Your understanding is appreciated!** **Important: For custom-ordered wooden spoons, you can choose the natural wood finish (which develops a patina over time with handling and wear) or opt for a coating of edible walnut oil. Thank you! **> Cypress Wood** Cypress, along with pine, is revered as the **foremost of trees**. Wang Anshi’s commentary on the character for cypress, 《字说》, explains: “Cypress is like 'count' (伯), hence the character is composed with ‘white’ (白).” This is how it came to be known as cypress wood. Due to its resinous nature, cypress wood dries slowly and possesses exceptional resistance to decay. Cypress trees grow exceedingly slowly; the two cypress trees by my childhood home remain much the same size even today, showing little discernible growth. Consequently, cypress wood is fine-grained, hard, and smooth, with clear, intricate grain patterns and a dignified natural color. Fresh cypress wood tends to be lighter in color. Aged cypress, however, is deeper in hue and emits a more mellow and pleasing fragrance. **As time passes, its color deepens, imparting an ancient and elegant aesthetic.** ∨ We firmly believe that "wood" is a material imbued with warmth, its colors and textures telling stories of nature.
