1950s French Vintage Nib Gilbert Princesse N. 730 Dip Pen Nib. - Dip Pens - Other Metals

Product Description

Produced by the French Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure pen factory in the 1950s. Princesse N.730, crafted from alloy with a unique structural design. The nib offers excellent flexibility, slightly softer than the N.81. It is notably beginner-friendly and allows for easy control of line variation from EF to M. Perfect for English calligraphy and also suitable for writing Chinese characters with a gentle touch at the turns to prevent ink blobbing. Ink used in reference photos: STAEDTLER Fountain Pen Ink (not shellac ink). Paper used: Russ Paper (smooth surface, high water resistance). A Note on Vintage vs. Modern Nibs: Vintage nibs feature substantial metal construction and meticulous craftsmanship. Made from original metals (not plated), they are easier to write with and require minimal break-in. They possess superior ink capacity and are generally more durable. Important Usage Guidelines: 1. No need for pre-heating or vigorous brushing before use. 2. Minor horizontal or vertical marks on the nib tip are original factory imperfections from the time of production, ensuring immediate usability upon purchase. These are not defects. 3. If oil contamination affects ink flow (e.g., from hands or paper wax), simply wash gently with soap, dry thoroughly, and it will be ready for use. 4. Clean and dry the nib promptly after use, allow it to air dry before storing to prevent rust. 5. Minor corrosion on the pen body does not affect writing; corrosion on the nib itself will impact performance. All vintage nibs are discontinued collectibles. We offer pristine, unused items, available while stocks last. Each item undergoes thorough inspection before shipping. Any with defects will not be dispatched.
