"Sea Ripples" attempts to view and express marine impressions and culture from a modern perspective, extending the interpretation of marine culture through everyday objects. Taiwan, surrounded by the sea, has accumulated a deep and broad marine culture over the years. It originates from the Austronesian peoples, the Formosa described by Westerners during the Age of Discovery, the stories of crossing the sea from mainland China, the traces left by different peoples who arrived and departed over time, to the home we inhabit today. The history of "grand eras" forms the backdrop of our upbringing, while "small eras" belong to the fragmented memories of our youth: moments misplaced in fishing villages along the coast, by the seaside where we ran and shouted with friends, along the coastal highway stretching forward against a deep blue backdrop, the western sandy beaches, the northern rocky shores, the instant waves crash against the reefs, the steadfast fishermen guiding boats into the harbor, the lively fish markets filled with boisterous calls, the uninhibited enjoyment of seafood snacks... These fragments that accompanied our growth, the past and the present, and the possibilities of the future, are all the emotions and thoughts we wish to share with everyone through "Sea Ripples."
