A Buddha statue unearthed from a collapsed pagoda in the Mandalay region of Myanmar. This piece features a Buddha with a pedestal and halo. It is a relatively rare form of seated Buddha imagery. The estimated age is likely the 18th-19th century (dealers who brought it to Taiwan believe it to be even older...). Having handled artifacts for many years, it’s prudent to offer a conservative age estimate. The statue exhibits several casting imperfections. The sealing at the base is intact. Bronze alloy. Total height is 21cm. Base width is 15.5cm. Weight is 1720g. The exterior has been cleaned. Hard, cement-like soil deposits have been removed from the bronze Buddha, along with most of the verdigris and oxidation. ************************* Myanmar is a country with strict regulations on artifact export.
