🌺 Rose relief copper ashtray
French Art Nouveau copper plate, circa 1920
The three-dimensional sculptured roses and leaves showcase the natural themes common in the Art Nouveau style.
From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, it was popular among the European upper class to use metal ashtrays to place cigarettes, so small grooves were set on both sides to facilitate the placement of cigarettes and prevent them from slipping.
Now it can be used as a decoration or a storage tray for jewelry or small items.
After hundreds of years, the copper plate shows traces of natural oxidation and time, adding to its antique charm.
