**Hasami-yaki with a new name but a long history**
In 2003, due to the regulations of the Japanese government, Hasami ceramic products originally sold under the names of "Arita ware" and "Imari ware" must be renamed "Hasami ware".
**How did Hasamiyaki appear?**
Arita, Hasami and other Hizen regions were the places where "porcelain" was produced for the first time in Japan. Before that, Japan only had pottery technology.
After the Wanli Battle of Joseon (1592-1598), many potters from Korea traveled east to Japan. Porcelain makers from Korea found suitable kaolin in Arita Spring Mountain and began to make porcelain.
**Imari burn? Arita ware? They both used to be the names of Hasami-yaki**
In the 16th century, Japan's ceramic products were exported, and Imari ware represented the meaning of "that Imari is selling". Imari was the largest export port of Japanese ceramic products at that time.
During the Meiji Restoration period, Arita had a station, and the sales of goods no longer depended on Imari, which has a seaport. Local ceramic products gradually began to be distributed in various places under the name of Arita-yaki, and Hasami, next to Arita, also followed the use of the name of Arita-yaki. sale.
**Hasamiyaki got his own name, then?**
After Hasami, who was used to being an OEM for Imari and Arita ware, seemed to have suddenly lost his goal to move forward.
"The protagonist of Hasami Yaki is not a utensil nor a cook, but a life style that carries a "people". 』– Kodama Morisuke (President of Saikai Pottery)
Hasami-yaki with a name is naturally different from Arita-yaki, but how to renovate the style has caused a headache for Mr. Kodama, the president of Saikai Pottery. Through a friend's recommendation of designer Kaoru Abe, Saikai Pottery began to be produced. Some interesting ceramic products, such changes allow Posami Pottery to slowly find its own highlights.

<Porcelain>
Stone raw materials. Fired at high temperature, the texture is hard and does not absorb water, and it will make a crisp sound when tapped lightly.
<Pottery>
Clay raw material. It is fired at a lower temperature than porcelain. Due to insufficient baking, it has water absorption and makes a dull sound when tapped.
◎ Because the pottery will absorb water, it can be soaked in water for about 2 to 3 hours before use. In addition, if you soak it in hot water once before using it, the water from the cooking is less likely to get into it.
