Dear Friend,
I am glad to see you here!
I would like to introduce you to this work:
Drawing: Reflections on Semiotics
A spoon and a fork are arranged neatly in front of the audience's eyes. It is as if we are sitting at the table and see the tableware in front of us. It is as if we are waiting for the moment before the meal.
I could see the subtle light and shadow of the cutlery. The metallic reflections are sharp and clear. The reflected light is striking and dazzling, and when I look at the dancing white light in it, I see the moving details of everyday objects in this pair of tableware.
I enjoy the process of sketching these moving details. Starting with the choice of paper, I choose a smooth, cool white paper, which reflects the light in a clean, white color.
As the sharpened pencils, delicately etched on the dense paper, gradually pile up into shapes of varying shades... I watch as the picture takes shape and continue to draw tirelessly.
A spoon and a fork represent a cultural symbol that can contain implications such as: culinary culture, modernity, simplicity, and advanced human civilization. Depending on the collective identity of the viewer's personal background, he/she can conjure up different answers when looking at this pair of tableware.
Similarly, on the lower left side of the work, there is a code repeated four times, which is a random number and letter that I have arranged as an attempt to open up the name of the work. The code, like the title, only provides a direction for thoughts.
*Semiotics (also called semiotic studies) is the systematic study of sign processes (semiosis) and meaning making. Semiosis is any activity, conduct, or process that involves signs, where a sign is defined as anything that communicates something, usually called a meaning, to the sign's interpreter.
