**Artist Biography**
_Xie Zhong-Ren_
Born in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County in 1973.
Began learning jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied Advertising Design in vocational school in 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his own studio in 1994.
**Selected Exhibitions and Awards:**
2000: Award of Excellence in Craft Category, 14th Nanying Art Exhibition, for "Waiting for the Opportunity." Group exhibition at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2001: Invited for live carving at the Hualien International Arts Festival.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craft" award in the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Group exhibition at Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau. Group exhibition for "Flowers and Trees Carnival" in Changhua County. Featured in "Stone Garden," a joint exhibition with the Hualien County Cultural Affairs Bureau, held at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores across Taiwan.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecosystem Scenery" at the Presidential Office's "Taitung Local Crafts Exhibition."
2004: Featured in the National Education Radio's "Arts and Culture Corridor - Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Stone Carving Exhibition." Selected for the "Dream of Craft" award in the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Solo exhibition at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his work "Taiwanese Snacks - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Faces of Sherlock Holmes Exhibition" in exchange with the National Museum of the Czech Republic. Launched the brand "[Yu Ning Shi]" with a counter in a department store. Exhibited as a "Craft Master" at Pacific Sogo Department Store.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Crafts Up Close - Application of Living Crafts" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Gallery, organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008: Work "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2012: Work "Half a Thought" received an honorable mention in the Traditional Craft Category at the Ministry of Culture and National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition." Work "Quiet Mountain Landscape" received an honorable mention in the Craft Category at the 21st "Nanying Award" in Tainan City.
2013: Invited to exhibit in the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Masters Gathering" at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, showcasing his work in the Taiwanese Jade Masters section.
2016: Invited to exhibit at the Presidential Office Gallery as part of the "Gathering Around the Hearth - Sustainable Craft Exhibition" organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center, featuring his works "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi," "Handmade Mochi," and "A Moment of Leaping."
2017: Work "Remnant Lotus, Spring Intention" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan Arts Exhibition.
2018: Held the solo exhibition "Xie Zhong-Ren Jade Carving 30 Years - The Continuation of Culture" at Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Presents Blessings" at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition, organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center.
2020: Featured in the "Joyful Heart, Shining Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Craft and Design.
2021: Work "Japanese Style Nigiri Sushi" was exhibited at the "Creative Regeneration Green Craft" exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center. Work "Handmade Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured various locations including the Taipei Museum of Contemporary Craft and Design and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores in Taipei, Tainan, and Taichung.
