Twelve short stories connecting Kyoto
This is a self-funded travel book published by MIDWAY in 2017. We hope to introduce the stories behind the store or some cultural creators through the habit of columns and through communication between travelers and locals. "Wakakusa WAKAKUSA" is a story about a new generation of inheritors of Kyoto's traditional family business, or a group of local people who run creative new-style shops in old machiya.
Through the detailed photos of Mr. Hideaki Hamada and the friend-like interviews with the interviewees, I shared many interesting things behind the shop. If these stories are linked together, it is a new route to learn about Kyoto from the perspective of MIDWAY. I hope everyone will bring this book as a guide. When you visit the store, you can read the story behind it. Have a deeper experience to appreciate the new life surrounding the Kamo River.

【About MIDWAY】
The two principals of MIDWAY are PAN and RITA. The former is engaged in interior design work, and the latter is dedicated to graphic creation. PAN itself loves photography and loves to travel, especially Japan travels to many regions in person, while RITA loves to photograph memories of daily life and travel. When the two of them walked together, they hoped to have the LOGO meaning "during the voyage, remember to enjoy the scenery outside the porthole." But they also wanted to share these happy memories, so they decided to combine travel and photography perfectly.
The duo gradually realized that "During the journey of life, you will encounter different people and things. The eyes may see the same, but the feelings and experiences are not the same." Two people with very similar thoughts and preferences use this place. Sharing paranoid thoughts about life, design, and travel, and triggering the addition of text, so MIDWAY's multimedia combination of life, design, travel and sharing was officially born.
