Fine-grained white earthenware that enhances the clarity of the glaze. Shaped into a gentle, five-petaled flower bowl and fired with a yamabuki (golden yellow) crystalline glaze that evokes the earthy feel of pottery. The vessel possesses a soft yet refined presence. Its substantial depth makes it ideal for dishes with plenty of liquid, such as stews or soups. Perfect for simmered dishes like tofu and greens, nikujaga (meat and potato stew), or root vegetables. Also suitable for creamy dishes like potage soup or napa cabbage in cream sauce. And for rice dishes such as chirashi sushi or mixed rice. The creation process involves preparing the clay, shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, all by hand, using a small electric kiln and electric potter's wheel in my home studio. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own unique character, offering the distinct charm of handmade craftsmanship. The item you receive will be the same as pictured, and there are currently two pieces in stock. As the glaze color and form vary subtly between each piece, details are provided in the final product images. If stock is available, you may select your preferred piece. The base of the bowl will be sanded smooth before shipping. I explore various glazes and clays, seeking the best combinations to create pottery in a diverse range of colors and shapes. Therefore, we apply a water-blocking treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mezoma). This treatment requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the water-blocking treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - Cutlery shown in the product images is not included. - While we strive to capture product images as accurately as possible through photography and editing, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions.
